Biogas Projects

Lochmead Farms

In 2010, The Climate Trust contracted with Revolution Energy Solutions for Smart Energy's second project.

Lochmead Farms is a family -owned dairy that embodies the values of the Pacific Northwest through its commitment to the land and animals it stewards. The dairy's milk comes from Holstein cows born and raised on the farm where 45 percent of their food is grown.

The dairy is committed to a sustainable system that keeps the entire product life cycle close to home. They even grow the hazelnuts and peppermint oil used in their ice creams.

Now the farm is collecting waste from its cows and turning it into renewable energy. The manure will generate enough biogas to run a 240 kW-capacity engine generator.
