How we support communities across the Pacific Northwest.

We live here, just like you. And as the only major locally-based natural gas utility in our service area, we feel a special responsibility to help the people and communities around us.

NW Natural corporate giving

  • Shareholders contribute nearly $1 million to local nonprofits each year.
  • We support 150+ community and nonprofit groups in the fields of youth and family resiliency, environmental stewardship, health and human services, and arts and culture.
  • In 2020, we initiated a special COVID-19 employee giving campaign for local nonprofits providing COVID-related services, and supported communities affected by the wildfires in our region through our corporate philanthropy fund.
  • Through two giving campaigns, along with a 100% company match, our employees and retirees contributed $350,000 to local charities.

Our Nonprofit Programs of Focus 2020 - 2022

Organizations are selected by a committee of NW Natural employees from across the company. Organizations are invited to participate via an RFP; in selection mission, service area, effectiveness, impact of sustained funding, and volunteer opportunities are taken into consideration. Priority is given to nonprofits serving children and families at risk. Additionally, at least one nonprofit partner will be focused on environmental stewardship. Recipients receive $35,000 per year for three years from NW Natural shareholders' Corporate Philanthropy Fund, plus in-kind resources and volunteer support from NW Natural employees.
