Safety

Resilient and reliable

Businesses operate safely knowing natural gas is delivered through one of the tightest, most modern pipeline systems in the nation.

Our pipeline system meets or exceeds state and federal pipeline safety regulations. To maintain this safe system, we lead efforts like training first responders and developers, and continue innovating for customer safety every day. Read about our safety measures.

With support from regulators and advocates, we were one of the first gas utilities in the U.S. to replace all cast iron and bare steel pipes with newer materials. Read about our Pipeline Integrity program.

Low carbon energy future

Destination Zero

Our core value of environmental stewardship is a driving force behind everything we do. We believe NW Natural has an important role to play in helping our region move to a low-carbon, renewable energy future in the more resilient and affordable way.

Common questions

Common questions

Is there gas where I’m considering locating my business?
Gas mains are not present in every location or existing mains may not have sufficient capacity to serve major gas consumers without infrastructure improvements. Therefore, it is important to contact our team when you’re evaluating a particular site.

If the property isn’t already hooked up to gas service, how much will it cost my business to bring gas to that location?
The cost of providing natural gas depends on many factors, including distance from the gas main, how much gas your business will use and the type of equipment. Frequently, gas can be provided at no cost to the customer. Please contact our team for an evaluation.

How much will gas cost my business each month?
The cost of gas varies based on your usage pattern and choice of rate schedule and options. Upon request, the Major Account Services team will provide complimentary rate analyses to assist you in choosing the rate schedule and options best suited for your situation.
