Building owners, operators and energy managers can request natural gas usage data to complete energy benchmarking through ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. Oregon and Washington will require commercial buildings over 20,000 square feet to track and report their energy performance with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
Follow the steps below to receive your property's natural gas usage report:
Step 1
Set up your ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager profile
Create or log in to your ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager account here: ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager account. Please follow the instructions in the Data Exchange User Guide to ensure your data request is successful.
You will need the following account information to use Portfolio Manager:
- Site address
- All meter number(s) and account number(s)
- The primary account contact name
Step 2
Complete the Natural Gas Usage Data Request Form
After your ENERGY STAR profile is created, complete the data request form and be sure to include your ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager Profile (Customer) ID number and the ENERGY STAR property ID number for each property:
Step 3
Complete Tenant Release Forms (if applicable)
Property owners with one to two separately metered commercial tenants—or one to four separately metered residential tenants must submit a signed Tenant Data Release Form from each tenant in order for NW Natural to release their natural gas usage information. Please complete the tenant release form(s) and include them with your submission:
If this criteria does not apply to your property, you do not need to submit Tenant Release Authorizations.
Step 4
Submit your completed materials to NW Natural
After your ENERGY STAR profile is created and all required forms are complete, please email them to BenchmarkingBuilding@nwnatural.com.
After we receive your completed forms with a valid ENERGY STAR Profile ID, your request will be reviewed and processed.
You will then receive a confirmation email from NW Natural along with a timeline for when your natural gas usage report will be available. (If we need additional information from you, we will let you know as soon as possible.)
Step 5
Access your natural gas usage report
From that time on, you can expect to see your natural gas usage report in your ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager account every 30 days.
