Smart Energy Terms and Conditions

Residential Accounts
By enrolling, you are authorizing NW Natural to add the cost of participation in the Smart Energy program to your monthly bill. You may opt out or change your program option at any time without penalty by calling NW Natural Customer Service at 800‐422‐4012, or logging into your account at nwnatural.com.
The Public Utility Commission of Oregon and the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission oversee Smart Energy and authorize its rates. NW Natural may from time to time disclose information regarding program participation and participants in connection with such oversight. The Climate Trust, an unaffiliated nonprofit, verifies and retires quality offsets on behalf of the program. To make participating customers natural gas use carbon neutral, The Climate Trust may enter into contracts that may produce greenhouse gas emission reductions two or more years into the future.
Please note: Your gas bill will list this Smart Energy charge starting with the next bill you receive from NW Natural.
As long as your Smart Energy participation is active, you will be responsible for paying that amount as part of your NW Natural gas bill payment each month by the bill due date.
Any amount of the Smart Energy participation fee that isn't paid by the due date will be treated as past due.
