NW Natural took steps to ease Bill Discount Program access and simplify enrollment, including: 

• Customers who have received energy assistance and weatherization services in the past two years will be automatically enrolled in the program. 
• The application is simple. Financial documents are not required; self-reported figures on household size and annual income will verify eligibility. 
• There is no enrollment deadline or enrollment windows. Customers can apply online, by email or mail, or over the phone. 
• The discount is offered in addition to other energy-assistance programs.
• Once enrolled, the monthly discount will last for two years, at which time customers will need to re-enroll. Customers will be notified by mail in advance of this deadline. 
• Discounts are calculated as a percentage of a customer’s bill. In Oregon the discounts range from 15% to 40%, depending on household income.

  For example, a customer with a household of four earning less than $16,070, with an average annual gas bill of $758, could receive a 40% bill discount annually of $303. Effective Oct. 1, 2023.
